They are considered a national dish in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and are also very common in Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Slovenia, as well as in Macedonia and Bulgaria. Cevapi has its origins in the Balkans during the Ottoman period, and represents a regional specialty similar to the Turkish kebab. They make great appetizers.
